Sea Festival in tribute to Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands

Many activities will be targeted towards Truong Sa Islands, including a photograph exhibition, a seminar on Truong Sa, art performances and using coffee beans to make a map of Truong Sa.

These activities aim to promote sovereignty of Truong Sa Island and beauty of Khanh Hoa sea and island to domestic and international friends.

Le Xuan Han, Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee, has announced that the 2011 Sea Festival will be held from June 11 to 15.

A lot of cultural, sports, and tourism activities will also take place during the festival.

This is the fifth time Khanh Hoa has organised the event since the World’s Most Beautiful Bay Club admitted Nha Trang Bay as its 29th member in 2003.

Saint Giong festival features strength and unity

The traditional Giong Festival in Hanoi’s outlying district of Gia Lam on May 11 (the ninth day of the fourth lunar month), focused on cultural rituals highlighting its strength, humanity and sacred nature.

The Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) launched the sixth International Art Photography contest and exhibition in Hanoi on May 23, with the support of the International Federation of Photographic Art. 

 

VAPA Chairman Vu Quoc Khanh said the event aims to help Vietnamese photographers improve their skills, especially in taking professional art photos, as well as expanding exchanges with international counterparts.

Vietnam boat sinking - last of 16 bodies found in

HANOI, Vietnam -- Vietnamese divers have recovered the body of the final victim who drowned along with 15 other people when a double-decker party boat sank in a river during a boy's birthday celebration. The boat captain has been detained for questioning.

Trieu Van Giau, chief of Binh Duong provincial waterway police, says the body of a 9-year-old boy was pulled early Monday from the boat, which was still submerged in the Saigon River.
